IELLEN is a dynamic and focused energy in our community.

The Local Learning and Employment Networks incorporate three key themes in the Victorian Government's commitment to education reform, these being:

community building innovation and development of infrastructure.

These three themes are interdependent and provide the foundation for community building through enhancing networks and partnerships. The LLENs are based largely on local government area boundaries. The IELLEN, covers the boundaries of Stonnington, Boroondara & Port Phillip.

Did you know?
In the municipalities of Stonnington,Boroondara and Port Phillip There are approximately 4,000 young people who are not engaged in education or employment.
Approximate 500 students 'dropout' of tertiary studies every year.
Vital Link
Our Young people need local industry, business, education, government and local community to create better education opportunities for all young people through Education, Training & Employment".

Our Vision

To build a community that empowers young people.

Our Mission

To engage all stakeholders in the process of achieving the vision.

LLEN's have been set up by the State Government to widen education opportunities for young people. The government recognises that not all young people learn in the traditional educational setting and that educating our young is not just the responsibility of teachers, rather the wider community.

The IELLEN covers some of the more affluent areas of Victoria yet there are many hidden problems. This is evidenced by the fact that there are approximately 4,000 young people aged between 15 -24 who are neither in education or employment.

IELLEN is working with a range of organisations and industries to improve this situation.  To give readers an idea of what a LLEN can do this website provides a brief overview of some our projects.  These projects target a diverse range of young people – from the most disengaged through to the university students.
