VCAL
is the Hands-on Option for Year 11 and 12 Students
- The
Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) gives students
in Years 11 and 12 the
chance to choose the qualification option that best suits
their interests.
- This
year VCAL will be available to students in 200 secondary
colleges, TAFEs
and participating Adult Community Centres (ACE)
- Unlike
the VCE, which is widely used by students as a pathway to
university, students who do the VCAL
-
are more likely to be interested
in going on to training at TAFE, doing an apprenticeship,
or going straight into the workplace after completing
Year 12.
- The
VCAL has four compulsory strands which give students 'hands-on'
practical work-related experience, as well as literacy and
numeracy skills and the opportunity to build personal skills
that are important for life and work.
- Students
who successfully complete the VCAL receive a fully accredited
senior secondary school qualification

Credit recognition in VCE document VCAA
This
is a really important change in policy for VCE. Previously
students could only gain credit for completing one of the
30 or so VET in the VCE programs. Now students can also gain
credit towards VCE for AQTF modules and Certificates, at Cert
